Longriders CMC at Paynesville
LONGRIDERS CHRISTIAN MOTORCYCLE CLUB AT PAYNESVILLE
Last Sunday, 13th July, at Paynesville UC Faith Community, saw a service with a difference. We were graced with the presence of some members from the Gippsland Chapter of the Longriders Christian Motorcycle Club.
We heard them before they arrived, rumbling down the street, and we raced outside to greet them. I don’t believe Paynesville church site has ever had so much sparkling metal gathered in the car park in all it’s 140 years!
Deb Bye, Presbytery Mission Support Pastor, led the service, after which Rev. Vic Heyward, Mission Support Minister – Pastoral Care, introduced the various speakers from the Club, including the Leader Brad, who gave some history on its background, Patty who sang three of his own written songs accompanied by his guitar, Clive who did the reading from Luke of the Good Samaritan, and Blocker, who delivered his heartfelt testimony, which proved very moving for some.
The service was followed by lunch with lots of laughter and hearty fellowship. Field Development Manager for Scripture Union, Sally-Ann Henderson, also attended together with two Chaplains and their wives. Sally-Ann reported on the hope of engaging two new school chaplains in Paynesville in the near future, and asked for our prayerful support.
